A collection dedicated to trees would not be complete without the famous "Lone Cypress", the most photographed tree in the USA. This cypress is one of the tourist stops of the scenic 17-mile drive along the Pacific coast. It may very well be over 250 + years old and is near one of the world's most beautiful and expensive golf courses at Pebble Beach. This old conifer was scarred by past arson and for over 65 years, it is supported steel cables. I took this picture during the California 2020 wildfire season, which ravaged through the West coast, leaving a trail of destruction and unrest. Although the air in the Pacific Grove was still breathable that day, it seemed a little dirty and yellowed. This guided my post-processing of this frame, in which I tried to convey a sense of endurance and long-term survival through giving the the picture an aged, grungy appearance.
